MESA and CAPP Move Online and Welcome Back Student Assistants
Our MESA College Preparation Program which serves over 600 middle and high school students and our Career Awareness and Preparation Program which supports high school and college students across the region are breaking new ground, moving traditionally face-to-face activities online. Students. teachers and families working at home rely on these opportunities to extend and expand on the education provided by schools to engage minoritized communities and prepare them for STEM studies in college and careers in STEM industries.
To support these programs, we are pleased to welcome back Mazie Mauricio (Computer Science) and Dolu Odumosu (Engineering) who will be serving as Student Assistants with the Institute for STEM Education during the 2020-21 academic year. Mazie and Dolu will bring their expertise and experiences as college students to build out tools utilizing platforms such as Harvard LabXChange, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Zoom. These newly created resources will improve the support of students, MESA advisors, and parents/guardians and help students prepare for their futures.
For our MESA students and families, there will be an increased focus on college preparedness, career exploration opportunities, and a deeper learning for engineering design principles. We are excited to have Maizie and Dolu help create more virtual experiences and resources for both programs to improve the college and career pipelines.
